Goopy Le Grande is a boss that can be fought in Cuphead. He is found on Inkwell Isle One whose soul contract must be collected for the Devil. His level is called Ruse of an Ooze.

Location

Appearance

Like all bosses, his level has a unique design that can be easily distinguished from the background: this one being a couple of trees on a patch of grass. The level is completely flat with no platforms or hazards, with only Goopy to fight.

World

Ruse of an Ooze is found on Inkwell Isle 1 north of Porkrind's Emporium. A tree that looks different from the rest can be interacted with where Goopy Le Grande can be found.

Appearance

In Goopy's first phase, he is around the same size of both Cuphead and Mugman. He mainly takes the form of a blue blob with a strange tip on the top of his head. Additionally, he seems to always have a red nose and very large eyes. He looks very similar to the Bothersome Blueberries found in Forest Follies, but he is substantially larger and lacks legs throughout all his phases.

Attack Patterns

Phase One

Goopy Le Grande starts off the boss fight as a gentleman by tipping the top of his head. He jumps back and forth around the room, inflicting contact damage. After a few bounces Goopy will pause briefly before attempting to hit Cuphead by enlarging his head into a boxing glove shape. Cuphead can duck underneath this attack but cannot jump over it.

Phase Two

Once he takes enough damage, he flips a pill in the air and consumes it, growing in size. During his transformation, there will be three question marks surrounding the boss that can be parried. With his increased size, he continues to jump around. He will occasionally pause briefly and bring out a boxing glove before punching in Cuphead's direction; this has a longer range than Goopy's first glove attack, but can also be dodged by crouching.

Phase Three

Goopy's final form is a large tombstone that crushes Goopy. This tombstone will slide from side to side with great speed. As the gravestone slides from side to side, it will center itself on Cuphead and fall over trying to crush him. Goopy is the first boss of the game to be a single boss with three transformations.
